Practising certificates

Individuals who wish to work in Aotearoa New Zealand as an occupational therapist must be registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand and hold a current practising certificate.

Practising certificates are usually renewed on an annual basis. They are an assurance to the public that the occupational therapist remains fit and competent to practice. The practising certificate status of a practitioner can be checked on the public register.

Applicants are able to apply for a practising certificate at the same time as their registration form within their applicant portal (MyOTBNZ).

Further information about when an individual is required to hold registration and a practising certificate is available here.
