Removal of conditions on scope of practice
A condition on scope of practice will not be removed until the OTBNZ’s requirements relating to that condition have been fulfilled and the practitioner has lodged a successful application to have the condition removed. As an example, the “New Graduate” condition means that the practitioner is subject to weekly supervision for the first 12 months of practice. After the 12 months of supervision, the practitioner may apply to the OTBNZ to have the condition removed.
A complete application for removal of a condition on scope of practice comprises:
Please note that the supervisor’s report needs to give the OTBNZ an assessment of the practitioner’s current practice. The report should:
- assess the practitioner’s competence to practise in the position in which he or she is employed across the seven competencies for registration
- include a summary statement that supports the supervisor’s recommendation to either remove or continue the condition.
NB: A supervisor’s report is a stand-alone document. The supervisor should not cross-reference to the supervisee’s Continuing Competence Framework for Recertification (CCFR).
Other points to note are:
- the complete application should be sent to the OTBNZ (Contact Us page)
- the prescribed frequency of supervision must continue until the practitioner has been notified by the OTBNZ that the condition has been lifted
- an application fee (see Fees page) applies for changes to, or removal of, conditions on a scope of practice.
