Third-party declaration - practising certificate application

The term "third party" refers to the person who signs-off/attests to your competence each year on the recertification declaration.  Your third party must be a registered occupational therapist with a current practising certificate and no conditions on their scope of practice. This person may be your professional supervisor, a peer, or line manager, but may also be a person you approach specifically to provide a third party declaration when you apply for your practising certificate.

The role of the third party is to attest that:

  • he/she has sighted, and discussed with you, your Continuing Competence Framework for Recertification (CCFR)
  • he/she is satisfied that your objectives and activities are appropriate for maintaining competence, having regard to your level of seniority and experience
  • he/she is not aware of any mental or physical condition that may impact on your practice
  • to the best of his/her knowledge you are fit and competent to practise
