Competencies for registration
The Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand (OTBNZ) sets the standards for competence. The seven areas of competence identified by the OTBNZ are outlined in the Competencies for Registration as an Occupational Therapist PDF document. For each competency there is an “Outcome” statement, which is a summary of what the OTBNZ considers is competent practice. Under each outcome statement there are “performance criteria”, which are the actions that the OTBNZ considers demonstrate competence in that area.
These seven competency areas form the basis of the Continuing Competence Framework for Recertification (CCFR). When practitioners are recording self-assessments or setting objectives or activities in their CCFR, they may wish to use the outcome statements or the performance criteria as a guide. It is also acceptable for self-assessments, objectives and activities to be loosely based on these.
