Do you need a practising certificate?

Created by OTBNZ News on 09/04/2010

Practising certificates are issued from 1 April - 31 March every year. You must have a current practising certificate to continue practising occupational therapy. The register displays the names of practitioners who hold a current practising certificate. The fee for a practising certificate remains at $546.

The OTBNZ has developed a document clarifying for practitioners who should hold a current practising certificate. This document provides a definition of “practising occupational therapy” and clarifies the scope of occupational therapy practice for practitioners who are employed in non-traditional roles. If you work in a non-traditional role, please refer to the document Policy on when registration and a practising certificate are required to see if you need a practising certificate. The OTBNZ staff are happy to discuss this with you if you are unclear whether you fit the criteria. Remember that if you are calling yourself an occupational therapist, then you need to be registered with a practising certificate.
