OTBNZ introducing two new computer systems Created by OTBNZ News on 09/04/2010
During 2010 the OTBNZ is introducing two new computer systems:
- WebRAy - a replacement website and
- SysRAy - a replacement application system (also known as a database).
The new website, which provides information about the Board and the OTBNZ (the organisation which carries out the work of the Board), is being launched first. So when WebRAy is initially launched practitioners will still log on to the old application system. Links are provided in WebRAy to take the practitioner to the old system’s log on page.
When SysRAy is launched, those same links will take practitioners and outside CCFR supervisors to their new log on pages.

This text provides more detail about SysRAy
SysRAy is a new system to allow practitioners to record their personal details and their CCFR details, to apply for recertification, make payments and appoint / act as CCFR supervisors and third parties. OTBNZ staff, the CCFR auditors and outside CCFR supervisors will also use the system, and students at the NZ tertiary schools being taught Occupational Therapy will be able to use SysRAy to practise using the CCFR.
Compared with the existing system, SysRAy provides improved navigation around the features available for users. In particular, the CCFR screens have been much improved, and some new facilities have been provided:
- naming of CCFR elements such as activities and objectives
- a consistent format
- a printable, formatted view of the whole of a competency
- a pop up panel to enable users to work with large blocks of text
- formatting of text (eg underlining, bullets and bold text)
- user control of archiving
- help with spell checking
SysRAy will also bring extra efficiencies for staff and CCFR auditors, and provides an underlying framework which can be expanded in the future as and when required.
Most of the existing data in the old database will automatically be transferred from that system into SysRAy. Practitioners will not have to re-enter their CCFR details, or personal details such as names, date of birth or ethnicity. Historical data (eg previous payments, supervisors comments, etc) will also be migrated automatically. However, practitioners may be asked to help in reformatting their addresses to conform with NZ Post standards, and in using standardised lists of employers and qualifications authorities. Further details will be given nearer the time of the switch over.
SysRAy will be introduced later in 2010.
